Electronic Payment Systems (EPS), Oracle Database Administration and Tuning, March 1998 - July 1998

Lead Oracle consultant on a project to migrate production databases from NCR hardware to Sun hardware.  Migrated databases included People Soft, Remedy, and a custom billing application.  Provide database administration and tuning support to EPS personnel.  Installed and configured Oracle 8.0.4 for acceptance testing in preparation for migration to Oracle 8.  Installed and configured Enterprise Manager 1.5 with Performance Pack and Tuning Pack.  Installed and Configured Intelligent Agents and Data Gatherer on Sun Solaris 2.6.  Trained EPS personnel in the use of Enterprise Manager.

 

James River Co., Data Warehousing Project, Dec 1997 - Feb 1998

Database Administrator for large Data Warehousing project.  Tuned system using TKPROF, Explain Plan, scripts to monitor the SGA and UNIX (sar, vmstat, iostat) utilities.  Plan backup and recovery strategy.  Write UNIX shell scripts to automate data loads. Wrote PL/SQL scripts to load data.  Planned physical design of the database.  Recommended system configuration to James River Management.

Oracle Web Server, SUN Micro Systems

Performed work on an Intranet forecast tool used by sales force. Application was written in PL/SQL using the developers tool kit provided with the Web Server. Application allowed sales force to enter and modify forecasts through a WEB Browser into an Oracle Database.  Application also allowed managers and financial analysts to generate reports based on sales projections through the WEB Browser.

Product Development of Application to Track Backing Away Complaints

Participated in full life-cycle development of an application to track backing away complaints. Acted as Lead Programmer on the project.  Front end development was done in Applix Ware with an Oracle database on the back end.  PRO*C programs were also developed for execution through the UNIX cron utility.

 

Product Development of Customer Complaints Tracking System

Lead programmer in the development of PRO*C programs to conduct daily data loads into the customer complaint system.  Developed UNIX Shell scripts to control all data transfers between machines and all processing.  Shell scripts controlled all batch processing including error handling.

Employed as a software engineer. Worked on relation data models to store demographic data.  Wrote PRO*C programs to access the database. Acted as the development environment database administrator. Wrote workflow managers in C that were capable of full recovery in the event of a system crash.  Worked on all aspects of  the software life cycle.
